- Reynaldo loves life at the Jan Breydel
Cercle continued their unbeaten start to the second part of the season with a 2-0 win over Roeselare. The green blacks´ Cup dreams are still alive and Cercle have not given up hope of a top six finish either. This weekend, the Brazilian Reynaldo, on loan from Anderlecht, was again on target for Cercle as they coasted to their fourth league win in a row.
Glen De Boeck and Cercle are getting along together fine again. The Cercle manager was linked with a move to Genk, but he is expected to sign a new deal that will keep him at the Jan Breydel Stadium until the summer of 2014.
‘The co-operation between Cercle and De Boeck provides a win-win situation', explains General Manager Yvan Vandamme. De Boeck is given an opportunity to gain managerial experience with us. He has the Board’s full backing. De Boeck is a great personality who has Cercle at heart.”
Last season, De Boeck persuaded youngster Kanu to join Cercle on loan from Anderlecht and Vossen (Genk), Reynaldo and Mukendi (Anderlecht) gain valuable experience as loanees with Cercle.
‘We extensively scouted the new signings', told De Boeck reporters on Saturday. ‘We knew all about Reynaldo. Anderlecht will never sign a player from Brazil unless they are convinced he will show his skills.”
Reynaldo Dos Santos Silvia took his tally for the season to two on Saturday. His goal at KV Mechelen was a lucky one , as it took a huge deflection off a defender but he netted a peach of a goal against Roeselare. He speaks reasonable French as he was asked to comment on the game.
‘I’m afraid Dutch is too difficult for me ', said the Brazilian, who has two tattoos on his body. ‘On the inside of my upper arm he has written his mother’s name Josefa, and on his neck his girlfriend’s name Lika. ‘They give me strength and I will need that as we want to pull off shock results with Cercle in the league. Moreover we are keen to win the Belgian this season.”
‘Do you know why I opted to join Cercle? Kanu told me they are a fine team and it was Anderlecht´s number 21 who persuaded me to spend the remainder of the season in Brugge.
Tom De Sutter could not stop talking about Cercle. And he was absolutely right. I may have scored two goals, but I don’t think I may be considered a first-team regular. My favourite position is centre midfield, but it’s obviously up to the manager, who is a great communicator”, concluded Reynaldo.
