It's 12 points from 12 for Cercle after a 2-0 win against Seraing!

After victories in Kortrijk and St-Truiden, Dominik Thalhammer made his home debut against Seraing. The match was an important one for the battle at the bottom and the Groen-Zwart responded well to continue their good form of the past few weeks. After 20 minutes, Hotic lobbed a ball into an empty goal after visiting goalkeeper Dietsch's poor attempt at clearing the ball. Just before half time, Lopes Da Silva doubled the lead, scoring the match's final goal with a well-placed shot.

Coach Thalhammer had little reason to change for the third match in a row; only the suspended Matondo was replaced, by Millàn.

Cercle had taken 9 points from 9 in their previous league matches, and that gave the team confidence for their first home match under their new coach. The Groen-Zwart started the match brightly and after 20 minutes Dietsch was unable to clear a deep ball from Van der Bruggen. The ball fell to Hotic, whose shot from 30 meters landed perfectly in the goal.

Cercle remained the most threatening team after having taken the lead. Besides a shot from Mikautadze, Didillon had little to do in the first half.

Cercle kept pushing and on the stroke of half-time this resulted in a second goal. Boulenger was just able to clear a pass from Millàn for Somers, but in doing so the ball landed at the feet of Lopes Da Silva. He would then tuck the ball into the bottom corner, past a helpless Dietsch.

Vanhoutte replaced Deman at half time and ten minutes into the second half opposing manager Jordi Condom also brought on some new faces in Mouandilmadji and Sambu. Seraing came out of the locker room with more determinaton, trying to get back into the match. Mikautadze was rewarded with a one-on-one against Didillon, but his lobbed effort passed a few yards over the Groen-Zwart goal.

Groen-Zwart then had a difficult quarter of an hour, but gradually recovered the balance to see out the result. Hannes van der Bruggen had two more excellent opportunities to extend the lead, but Dietsch was alert to his first attempt and the second was over the bar. Seraing then tried to squeeze in a final attack, but the defensive organization of Cercle limited the Liège side's chances well, giving away nothing. With this result the Groen-Zwart have taken 12 points from 12 in the league and can look toward the final two matches before the winter break without any worries.

Thibo Somers: “Hopefully we can celebrate again soon with the supporters”

Thibo Somers was once again a scourge of the Eupen defense, playing a complete match and in the end the Cercle youth product was also able to break the deadlock, giving Cercle the lead fifteen minutes from time “It was a very difficult game for us, especially the first half. The game was closely fought for a long time and we didn't create many chances. Eupen played with a very low block and only attacked with long balls. In the second half we came out of the dressing room physically stronger and luckily we can take three points back to Bruges. We do hope that the supporters will be able to return to the stadium soon, because we do miss them.”

Senna Miangue had a hand in Thibo Somers' opening goal against Eupen with a long throw-in, but the Belgian also realizes that Cercle did not play its best game: “It was not a strong match for us, but in the end we also have to learn to win matches without style. Today was the perfect example: not our best display, but the most important thing is that we won.”
