Denkey's hat trick sees Cercle past Eupen

With a big win against Eupen, a dominant Cercle rewarded itself for another good performance. Through goals from Denkey, Somers and Ueda, the _Groen-Zwart_ built up a large lead before the interval, although the visitors would pull a goal back shortly before the break via a penalty. After the break, Cercle kept control, and in the final stages of the match, the team added to its lead via two great goals from Denkey. Cercle, with the result, makes a nice jump in the table thanks to the victory.

It didn't take long for Cercle to turn its attacking intentions into chances. A throw-in by Somers came to Denkey and then Popovic, who shot just wide. Eupen had yet to get involved in the game, but were dangerous after a more closed phase of play. After a corner, Jeggo would force Majecki into a great save with a fine curling shot. Then it was up to the _Groen-Zwart_ to make good on their strong play. The first goal almost came when Ueda broke free, but his shot hit the post. Halfway through the first half, it was still honors even. After a corner, Popovic headed towards goalkeeper Moser, but Denkey was there to put the ball into the net. The opening goal gave Cercle energy, and the _Groen-Zwart_ were soon able to double their lead. After Ueda's build-up play, Somers would beat Moser from close range. And it wasn't done yet. Shortly thereafter, Ueda was in the right place to make it 3-0. It was an absolutely deserved lead for a dominant Cercle!

  
Except for that one early chance, Cercle kept the visitors far away from their own goal. However, the fantastic first half ended with a small moment of disappointment when the ball was put on the spot for the visitors. Peeters got the job done for Eupen, and the score was 3-1 at the half.

After the break, the _Groen-Zwart_ retained control of the game. They gave nothing away and created several chances. After a foul on Da Silva, referee Lambrechts was called to the monitor halfway through the second half. It was a penalty kick for the _Groen-Zwart_ and an excellent chance to settle the match definitively. Hotic, however, aimed the ball past the wrong side of the post. There was no need to worry, because the strong Denkey would find the top corner five minutes later, beating a hopeless Moser. And we weren't done yet, as Denkey scored his third goal of the night with a brilliant effort into the top right corner! 5-1!

  
In the final minutes it was almost 6-1, but Moser made three big saves. It was truly a fantastic evening, because in addition to the big win, the _Groen-Zwart_ also made a big jump in the table.
