Boris Popovic (22) has signed a new contract with Cercle Brugge. The Serbian youth international signed a contract until June 2025 (with an option for an additional season). “I'm very happy to reward this good season with a new contract.”
Boris Popovic signs with Cercle through 2025!
“I am very happy to be able to sign a new contract with Cercle. This opportunity to re-sign for the next three years is a great opportunity for me. I would like to thank Cercle for the confidence they have in me," said the right-footed central defender.
Boris Popovic made a permanent move from AS Monaco this season, together with Edgaras Utkus. He then signed for one season (with an option for a further one), while Utkus joined for two seasons (with an option). In an interview with Nice-Matin, Popovic and Utkus talked about how Cercle is the ideal springboard for them in their careers. “Honestly, I've learned a lot this season. Not only did I grow as a footballer, I also became more mature. We have also had a good season collectively. Of course there is still one match to go.”
The Serbian U-21 international has already played 19 times for Cercle this season. As a central defender, he scored 2 goals and also provided 1 assist -- not bad for a central defender! His performances have now been rewarded with a new contract until June 2025 (with an option for an additional season).
Congratulations on your new contract, Boris!
