Cercle convincingly wins a friendly against Deinze, 4-0

On Monday morning, Cercle played a friendly against KMSK Deinze. It finished 4-0 after goals from Hotic, Kehrer, Gboho and Denkey.

Cercle immediately took control of the game, but despite their high press in the first fifteen minutes, could only threaten at set pieces. After half an hour the breakthrough came for the Groen-Zwart when Hotic, after a nice bit of collective play by Cercle, was able to score on a pass from Martlé. It quickly almost became 2-0, but a good effort by Kehrer just went over Dutoit's goal.

At the start of the second half, Cercle resolutely attacked again. Young Cercle defender Jelle Schiffer almost made it 2-0, but his shot caromed off the post. Moments later, the Groen-Zwart scored: on a one-on-one with Dutoit, Kehrer gave his side a deserved 2-0 lead. Cercle then kept the upper hand and Gboho managed to make it 3-0 with a nice lob.

In the end of the game, several substitutions were made: Denkey, among others, came on for Gboho and moments later he was even able to seal what was a 4-0 final score.

Cercle Brugge: Warleson (Bruzzese 46’), Daland (Ravych 73’), Lietaert, Audenaert, Schiffer, Van der Bruggen (Francis 73’), Martlé, Decostere, Gboho (Denkey 73’), Hotic, Kehrer

Goals: Hotic 28' (1-0); Kehrer 57' (2-0); Gboho 69' (3-0); Denkey 81' (4-0)

Cercle hosted KV Kortrijk on Saturday afternoon at a rain-soaked Jan Breydel Stadium. Our Groen-Zwart controlled the visitors from post to post in the first half. This good football was rewarded by Somers and Ueda in a 2-0 lead at halftime. In a second half with few chances, that lead was never in danger as Cercle deservedly kept the three points at home.

After the international break last weekend, Cercle took on KV Kortrijk on Saturday afternoon. Cercle could again count on goalkeeper Radoslaw Majecki, who had recovered from a pectoral muscle injury, while Kevin Denkey was suspended.
