After more than a year and a half, Club Brugge were once again been able to win the Bruges derby. At the end of the first half Skov Olsen broke the deadlock and in the second half Nielsen, Yaremchuk and an own goal by Marcelin extended their lead.
It was mainly Cercle who gave life to the match in its beginning. The Groen-Zwart were pressing high and often captured the ball in Club's half. That resulted in chances for Van der Bruggen first and Hotic not much later. Ueda also tried his luck twice: once on the counter and
once on a pass from Lopes, who was playing on the left flank for a change. At the end of the first half, though, Club would see the benefits of Cercle's high pressure as Skov Olsen hit the side netting on a first attempt, but scored at the second time of asking from close range: 1-0 was an undeserved half-time score for Cercle. They played creditably and enthusiastically, but were down a goal after being caught out.
In the second half of the match, Club played smart from the whistle. The first chance would fall to Cercle, via Denkey, but his low shot went just wide of the post. Not much later Marcelin bundled the ball into his own goal on a cross from Skov Olsen: 2-0. Club had meanwhile found its stride: Nielsen was also able to score after a fine ball from Nusa. The match seemed to be slowly coming to an end, until Yaremchuk gave Majecki no chance with a deflected shot. 4-0 was the (undeserved) final score.
