Cercle lose to Eupen, 1-2

Cercle Bruges met KAS Eupen to resume play after the winter break at the Jan Breydel Stadium. It was a match originally scheduled for the 30th matchday that was moved forward in the calendar. It was scoreless at the hlad, but in the second half, Hoggas put Cercle ahead with a nice lob to make it 1-0. But it was substitute Prevljak who gave the Oostkantonners the victory with two goals.

The visitors took the initiative in the opening part of the match. Cercle escaped a good chance from the visitors from a corner as Baby just couldn't reach the ball. The Groen-Zwarte would also threaten via a corner, but Defourny cleared the ball without any problems. At the other end, Didillon stopped a shot from the ex-Cercle player Peeters. After a hesitant start, Cercle created better chances and had the lion's share of possession. In the fifteenth minute, the Green and Black launched a nice attack, but Hotic was just unable to reach Hoggas' cross, who had a shot on goal himself shortly thereafter.

Cercle were growing more and more into the game. A long shot by Hotic drifted just wide, but afterwards the game went less smoothly due to some knocks. Agbadou landed badly after making contact with Vanhoutte and Poulain had to recover from an aerial duel with Ugbo. After these interruptions, the Pandas looked to take the upper hand. Didillon got his fingers to a cross from Peeters and a dangerous effort from Kayembe. Baby's attempt then went wide just before half time.

After the break, Musaba quickly had a chance, but the ball went wide. Hoggas was able to score with a long shot, but Musaba, who ran onto the ball, was offside. Two minutes after this disallowed goal, Hoggas put Cercle ahead with a nice lob: 1-0. By his applying pressure, the Eupen goalkeeper kicked the ball direclty into the Frenchman's feet.

Cercle then went looking for a second goal. A set piece from Musaba was just shy of nestling into the top right corner. Eupen, though, also put on more pressure. N’Dri had a claim for a penalty kick, but referee Boterberg rightly declined it. Moments later Marcelin was able to head clear an attempt from close range by the substitute Prevljak from close range.

With 20 minutes left on the clock Prevljak brought Eupen level with a low, sliding shot to make it 1-1 before Peeters' attempt went wide of the corner for the visitors. Five minutes later Prevljak was able to score his second of the evening making it 1-2. At the other end, Defourny was able to stop a powerful effort from Vanhoutte. In added time, Hazard let fly with a long shot and an attempt by Somers was also blocked.

Cercle Bruges: Didillon, Vitinho, Taravel, Hazard, Ugbo, Hotic, Musaba (86' Somers), Vanhoutte (82' Lopes), Hoggas, Marcelin and Biancone.

KAS Eupen: Defourny, Correia, Amat, Poulain (80' Koch), Heris (62' Prevljak), Peeters, Kayembe, Agbadou, N'Dri (89' Beck), Baby and Ngoy (80' Cools).
