Cercle picks up a point away to Eupen

A match away to Eupen saw Cercle earn a point. Both teams scored twice in a spectacular first half as a red card for Eupen resulted in a numerical disadvantage for the home team. Both Eupen and Cercle had good chances to decide the game after the break, but a further goal would not be scored. Cercle had played to a draw for the fourth week in a row.

The Groen-Zwart started the game the best, but saw referee Van Driessche quickly point to the spot when Ravych fouled the speedy N'Dri in the box. Majecki reached Peeters' penalty kick with his hand, but his intervention was insufficient to keep the ball out of its goal. Cercle did not drop, but reacted immediately: Abu Francis fired home from about 25 meters and immediately leveled the score. When Baiye was shown a red card a few minutes later after he collided with the ankles of the Francis, the Groen-Zwart seemed to have the advantage. Yet it was Eupen who took the lead again after a quick switch to the strong N'Dri. The home team played very eagerly and regularly threatened through their pacy strikers Gassama and N'Dri. After a long throw-in, Cercle were able to level again towards the end of the first half. The ball ended up with Ueda, who headed the ball past Moser to make it 2-2.

After the break, Cercle took the initiative again, but it was Eupen who immediately had a big opportunity. Substitute goalkeeper Warleson, however, saved an attempt by Gassama. At the other end it was also almost price. Denkey turned his attacker and broke free and then put the ball past Moser's reach. However, Eupen escaped, as the ball was blocked by the unfortunate Ueda. Cercle were in control but then saw Marcelin's goal disallowed for offside and again were not rewarded for their dominance when Denkey shot wide from close range. However, Eupen continued to fight for every ball and also came close to scoring twice. Gassama couldn't get his foot on the end of a perfect cross from N'Dri and in the final phase a goal from Prevljak was disallowed for offside. The goal-rich first half therefore was all that would have an effect on the scoreboard and the game ended in a draw.
