Cercle Brugge has signed its first summer recruit in the form of the 21-year-old Norwegian youth international Jesper Daland. The right-footed central defender (1m89) joins from the Norwegian side IK Start and has signed a four-year deal with Cercle Brugge.

“Jesper Daland is a player who, despite his young age, is coming to Cercle with the ability to immediately perform at the highest level”, says technical director Carlos Aviña on the arrival of Daland. “His maturity, combined with his leadership qualities, has enabled him to become the captain of IK Start and to play in every match in the 2020 season. His qualities on the ball, his aerial game and his tactical intelligence will undoubtedly add value to Cercle,” said Aviña.
Jesper Daland came through as a youth player with FK Vigor and Stabaek IF, before moving to IK Start in 2019. In 2020, Daland became captain of the team and played every match in the Eliteserien, Norway’s top division.
The fans of IK Start voted the Norwegian youth international as the “2020 Young Player of the Year" last year. For Jesper Daland, the move to Cercle will mark his first experience abroad. The Norwegian hs signed a contract for 4 seasons with the Groen-Zwart. Welcome Jesper!
