Looking back at the results of our internationals

The international break is coming to an end: Cercle are preparing to get back in action in the Jupiler Pro League with a home match against Charleroi on Saturday (kick-off at 4.15 pm). Read on to see how our internationals performed!

While Dimitar Velkovski and Bulgaria drew 1-1 in a friendly against Ukraine on Thursday evening, the Bulgarians would then lose to Switzerland on Monday evening in a heavy 4-0 defeat. The Swiss would thus qualify directly for the World Cup, with Bulgaria having already been eliminated before the start of the match.

Kevin Denkey also played two World Cup qualifiers with Togo last week. Last Thursday he played 76 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Senegal, and on Monday he played Denkey 66 minutes as Togo won 0-1 against Namibia. Togo has been eliminated from the World Cup.

Olivier Deman made his official international debut with the Belgian U21s against Turkey last Friday. Deman came on for Yari Verschaeren on 87 minutes and was part of a 2-0 victory against Turkey. On Tuesday evening, the young Belgians then headed to Scotland, where they again won, 0-2. Again, Olivier Deman came on a few minutes before full time. The Belgians are firmly in the lead in Group I, with 18 points having won all six of their matches.

Jesper Daland and Norway's U21 side have also had a successful international break. On Friday they won 3-1 against Finland, and on Tuesday evening they won 1-2 against Azerbaijan. Daland did not miss a minute during both matches as his country continues to trail group leader Croatia.

Boris Popovic was called up for the Serbia U21s, but the central defender did not play in the team's matches against Ukraine and Faroe Islands.
