Coach Miron Muslic: “Recharge our batteries now to succeed again after the World Cup“

After seven wins in nine matches under Miron Muslic, Cercle breaks for the World Cup break level on points with seventh place in the Jupiler Pro League, comfortably in midtable with 25 points.

Last Saturday, the Groen-Zwart won 0-1 at STVV: “Sint-Truiden turned it into a physical battle. After a more difficult first half, we had to adapt during halftime. We did that by making some positional substitutions with the intention of winning more second balls,” said coach Miron Muslic.

And that strategy paid off. About 20 minutes before full time, it was the World Cup-bound, in-form Ayase Ueda who opened the scoring with his seventh goal of the season. A nice assist from Kevin Denkey preceded the goal: “In the second half we had some good moments of counterpressing and that also resulted in a very nice goal from Ayase. He is going to the World Cup in good form and we are proud that he will represent the Groen-Zwart there.”

Cercle thus enters the World Cup break with nineteen points from the last 24 available and a place in the Round of 16 of the Croky Cup. “We are obviously proud and happy with the results over the past few weeks. Now it's time to rest and recharge our batteries to be able to have success again after the break.”
