Olivier Deman: "React in these two matches against K.V. Mechelen"

Olivier Deman started the match against Charleroi as a substitute and saw a better second half from Cercle. Deman had been on international duty in recent days. He played his first minutes with the U-21 national team last week with matches against Turkey and Scotland. “I had already had a good few weeks of training, but only played my first real minutes last week. They were short appearances, but I think I did a good job. Of course I hope to be back in the team in March, but the focus is now on my performances at Cercle.”

At Cercle, Olivier had disappeared from the starting eleven in recent weeks. “Obviously I played a lot at the start of the season, so fatigue was definitely a factor. Given our results, it also makes sense that the coach would try some other things. I am try to make the most out of my appearances as a substitute and hope to be back in the starting eleven soon.”

“Now there are two matches against KV Mechelen: first in the league, then for the cup. Given the table, the league match is of course the most important, but we will certainly not neglect the cup. Not only is the cup a tradition at Cercle, last season also showed that a good cup run can provide a boost in the league. We have a fit and large squad and the cup can also mean opportunities for those who haven't had much time to play lately."
