Goalscorer Jesper Daland could only conclude that his goal came too late to get another result out of the fire. “It's always nice to score a goal, but in the little time left for us, we played too chaotically to get a chance. If we could have scored earlier, we might have had a point or even more. We also had plenty of chances in the second half, but not for the first time this season we didn't have efficiency with our opportunities. That's not just a problem for the attackers, but for the whole team."
Olivier Deman started the match against Charleroi as a substitute and saw a better second half from Cercle. Deman had been on international duty in recent days. He played his first minutes with the U-21 national team last week with matches against Turkey and Scotland. “I had already had a good few weeks of training, but only played my first real minutes last week. They were short appearances, but I think I did a good job. Of course I hope to be back in the team in March, but the focus is now on my performances at Cercle.”
Jesper Daland managed to help Cercle equalize on fifteen minutes against Standard, his first goal in green and black. The Norwegian international did well to follow a free kick by Dino Hotic that came off the crossbar: "I feel we deserved more this week and last week. We played with a lot of energy and hardly gave Standard the chance to create anything. We all fought for a result together and had some chances, but all in all we can be happy with a point against a team like Standard. The team is motivated and we can build on this."
