Thursday's training on RKFC Knokke's artificial pitch

This Thursday morning training was held not on the practice fields at the Jan Breydel Stadium, but on the grounds of RKFC Knokke. Since Cercle are going to Limburg on Saturday to play on Stayen's artificial pitch (kick-off at 6.30 pm), the Groen-Zwart wish to leave nothing to chance in their preparation, so as to make playing on an artificial surface as familiar as possible.

After the players gathered at Jan Breydel, the group led by coach Dominik Thalhammer took the team bus to Knokke. Knokke's well-designed infrastructure, with the team currently in 12th place in Division 1 National -- the third tier in Belgium, offered every opportunity for the Groen-Zwart to prepare ideally to take on STVV. The reason why the team headed to Knokke, as opposed to training on the artificial pitch at Jan Breydel, is because the surface of the Knokke pitch is more similar to that of Stayen.

Photographer Dieter Ros from the Cercle media team was also present during the training session, see what he captured:

Thibo Somers: “Hopefully we can celebrate again soon with the supporters”

Thibo Somers was once again a scourge of the Eupen defense, playing a complete match and in the end the Cercle youth product was also able to break the deadlock, giving Cercle the lead fifteen minutes from time “It was a very difficult game for us, especially the first half. The game was closely fought for a long time and we didn't create many chances. Eupen played with a very low block and only attacked with long balls. In the second half we came out of the dressing room physically stronger and luckily we can take three points back to Bruges. We do hope that the supporters will be able to return to the stadium soon, because we do miss them.”

Senna Miangue: “Winning 6 of our last 7 matches is an impressive statistic”

Senna Miangue had a hand in Thibo Somers' opening goal against Eupen with a long throw-in, but the Belgian also realizes that Cercle did not play its best game: “It was not a strong match for us, but in the end we also have to learn to win matches without style. Today was the perfect example: not our best display, but the most important thing is that we won.”
